Keep in mind this is not a temporary power backup, this unit will actually charge your USB devices back to a full charge.
The Incredicharge I-5000 is great way to charge up your mobile phones, iPods, cameras and other USB devices an output of 1200mA or less. iPhones and iPods requires 500mA. I would suggest the Incredicharge I-11000 for iPads since they require at least 2000mA. The I-5000 would charge an iPad but it will take a really long time since it would be charging it at half the rate. I use the I-11000 for my own personal use since I use my iPad throughout the day, but the I-5000 is great to have on hand for my children's cellphones, handheld gaming systems and digital cameras. The first initial charge took approximately 1 1/2 hours to fully charged (4 LED lights glow). The unit is lightweight and easy to take along in a briefcase or backpack. You can use your PC's USB port to charge it or use a USB AC adapter that can be brought separately (I use the one I got from Apple for my iPad).
Comes with 7 different connectors from mini to micro USB and a connector to pretty charge every cellphone brand out there. You can also your own devices USB cables if you wanted since the USB cord the I-5000 comes with is only about 24 inches long. One very important thing I did notice is that devices will charge up much faster if they are totally powered down. It states it can charge up to 8 hours, but this weighs a lot on what you are charging and how long of a charge it will take.
The Incredicharge I-5000 makes a great gift idea because anyone can use an emergency power.

This wonderful little charger (about the size of a deck of cards) is perfect for both emergencies and trips.
I have an iPhone 4, and at full charge, this completely charged my phone with about 3/4 of the battery power left. It has a single USB cord with multiple tips for charging various items. You use the same cord to charge the battery, either off of your own USB charger or computer. It has two outputs to charge multiple items at once, and an emergency LED light.
Four years ago we were caught in an ice storm, and while we didn't lose power, some of our friends spent nearly two weeks without power. We live in tornado country and are very sensitive to power outage issues, particularly now that our phone runs through a router. No power, no house phone. So our iPhone is our emergency lifeline.
While I keep it charged under normal circumstances, putting it on the charger when I get home, Murphys law states that "whatever can go wrong will go wrong." so I figure I will eventually hit a power outage with an undercharged battery on my iPhone. I have been looking for a solution, so that I know I will have power for the phone in an emergency. This very professional little charger is the perfect solution, and what seems to be a cute little LED light just adds to the idea of using this during a power outage.
It does charge up my iPad (a different kind of emergency), but I suspect the Incredicharge I-11000 External Battery Pack and Charger 11000mAh Capacity for iPad2, iPad 3, HP Touchpad iPhone 4 4s 3Gs 3G (AT;T and Verizon), iPod Touch (1G 2G 3G 4G 5G), HTC Android EVO, Blackberry, Samsung Galaxy S, Droid, Nintendo, Sony PSP and Man... will do a better job. Still, emergencies are emergencies.
I am keeping my battery in my office (and making sure it remains charged), so that it will always be handy. Just the feeling of security knowing it is there is well worth the price!
While I have a car charger for trips in the car, I have made long Amtrak trips where it would have very helpful to keep my iPhone and iPad charged, when few outlets were available. The same holds true for camping trips, so far we haven't managed to find a tent with an outlet pre-installed. Just remember on a longer trip, you will also have to recharge the charger.
I was very grateful to have been offered the opportunity to receive a complimentary charger to consider for a review right at the beginning of our season of bad weather. So last night, as the lightning flashed and the thunder rolled, I slept a bit easier, knowing I was covered on this one thing at least.
