This RAM high strength composite cradle is designed to hold the following devices: Apple iPhone 4 Material: High Strength Composite Ball Size: 1" Rubber Ball "B" Size Note: The "U" in the part number reflects product packaged in poly bag. The cradle includes a set of two nuts and bolts to connect the cradle to any of the RAM compatible mounts. RAM cradles do not include the RAM-B-238U (Diamond Base ; Ball) or RAP-B-238U (Diamond Composite Base ; Ball), required to attach to the cradle and RAM mounting system. This mount will NOT hold the 1st generation Apple iPhone, iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G S. The RAM-HOL-AP9U will not work with the Apple bumper or any other covers.

I have been using this mount on my road bike with an iPhone 4 with great success. I am completely pleased. Included with the product are a couple shims so that one can adjust the tilt of the holder. That is handy considering a rider's view angle could vary depending on their particular setup. The phone fits securely enough that I don't worry about its safety at all. I also like that the headphone jack is still accessible so I can ride with my headphones on. I should probably mention that I am using the phone in a vertical orientation. I don't know if using this mount in a horizontal orientation would greatly affect the security of the phone. It may. One other point that may be of interest to cyclists is that when I mounted my phone on the stem of my bike it was directly below the front edge of my helmet while riding. It has occurred to me that drops of sweat might fall from my helmet padding directly on my phone. I may relocate the mount so that it is on the handlebar to one side of the stem in order to avoid this possibility. Its still early season here in Michigan so excessive sweat isn't exactly and issue... yet ;-)

I had the previous version of this mount, for the iPhone 3G S, and now this one for the iPhone 4S. I bought my previous one as a kit that contained the hardware to attach the mount to the handle bars. Both mounts were used on a road bike (no suspension), held the phone firmly over rough terrain and allowed full access to the screen, buttons, and speakers.
